So if you have +10 unrest due to separatism, it'll go away in 20 years. Every year, the separatism goes down by 0.5%. It'll also say how much separatism there is still in the province. It'll say things that give you unrest and things that'll help (such as tolerance, friendly troops, policies, advisors, etc.).
